Mountaineering is the most natural way of traveling
Mountaineering is the sport of climbing a mountain and is more physically demanding than hiking. Mountains often provide a mixed terrain (with the presence of rock, ice and snow), so climbers need to be properly equipped and able to navigate through a wide variety of conditions. It is mostly practiced in groups as the team-work and support are very important parts of this activity.
Slovenia has quite a few mountain trails like Alpe Adria, The walk of peace or European Long-Distance Path E7. Near Bohinj there are quite a few mountains worth visiting, for example Mount Vogel, Črna prst, Rudnica, and let us not forget Triglav, the Slovenian symbol and its highest peak. Slovenia offers a spectacular blend of accessible mountain ski centres, majestic scenery, small family- friendly resorts and is especially great for beginners. Its main resorts, Bled, Bohinj and Kranjska Gora, have plenty of uncrowded, queue-free wide open runs, plus the thrilling World Cup downhill run. Julian Alps, with their numerous peaks, are also excellent for serious freeride paths. Mountain huts in Bohinj area provide a perfect location for anyone that wants to withdraw from civilization and experience the beauty of isolation from modern world. They can be also perfect starting points for many mountain trails.
